Senator Craig Plays Footsie

August 29th 2007 17:34
In yet another instance of a public figure refusing to take responsibility for his repulsive actions, Senator Larry Craig, Republican from Idaho, held a defiant press conference yesterday. Rather than apologizing for coming on to an undercover police officer in a public restroom at a Minneapolis Airport and announcing his resignation, Craig excoriated the local newspaper, The Idaho Statesman, and vehemently denied being gay. I guess the fact that he'd pleaded guilty to misdemeanor disorderly conduct charges in Hennepin County on August 8 must have slipped his mind. And since the behavior in question had nothing to do with punishing people for being gay and everything to do with numerous complaints that the men's room had turned into a brothel, Craig would have done well to leave his sexuality out of it. (By the way, since when did public restrooms become such a turn-on? Bleech!).

Democrats and the mainstream media are of course, having a field day broadcasting the fact that this a Republican senator -- you know, the party of "family values," while virtually ignoring the well-documented illegal behavior of members of the Democratic party including Bill Clinton, William Jefferson, Barney Frank, Cynthia McKinney and Jack Murtha, to name a few

What part of right versus wrong don't people understand? Why is it that when a black celebrity, athlete or public figure is so obviously guilty of a deplorable crime, the race-baiters and apologists come out of the woodwork to place everything in the proper "context," even in the face of irrefutable evidence?

In case you've been living on another planet for the last several weeks, Atlanta Falcons' star Quarterback Michael Vick pleaded guilty to a federal dogfighting charge on August 27. So let's talk about "context," shall we

About a year ago, I blogged about an excellent (aren't they always) column penned by journalist and legal immigrant to the USA, Mark Steyn, in response to kooky conspiracy theories and Popular Mechanics' detailed rebuttal entitled, Debunking 9/11 Myths: Why Conspiracy Theories Can't Stand Up to the Facts.

As breathtaking as it may be nearly six years after the worst attack on American soil, a stunning 36% of the population actually believes that the government of the United States is responsible for the horrific deaths of 3,000 of its citizens on that agonizing day. NOT Osama bin Laden. NOT Al Qaeda. NOT the scourge of global jihad. It was that stupid cowboy George W. Bush and his evil sidekick, Dick Cheney! They're the ones who caused the towers to collapse with a cleverly contrived "controlled demolition" and led us to believe that American passenger planes had crashed into the WTC, the Pentagon and a field in Western Pennsylvania (if in fact, Flight 93 actually existed), when truly, the real culprits were deliberately guided American missiles, fired off on BushCheney's command

Justice for Jessica

August 26th 2007 16:19
As a resident of Florida, I remember well the horrific abduction, rape and murder of nine year-old innocent Jessica Lunsford in February, 2005. John E. Couey, one of the most vile pieces of scum to ever roam the planet, kidnapped Jessie from her home on February 23, 2005. A relentless search, spearheaded by the police and the girl's father, Mark Lunsford, resulted in the tragic discovery of her lifeless body three weeks later, buried at the home of Couey's half-sister.

After his arrest, Couey had reportedly stated that "this kind of thing happens everyday," you know, so what's the big deal? Apparently in his sick, twisted mind, the brutal rape and murder of a child is nothing more than a hobby, much akin to bowling or golf. If a statement like that doesn't send chills down the spine of every parent, I don't know what will

No, I am not talking about dictator-lovin' Sean Penn, who can't seem to get enough of Venezuelan thug Hugo Chavez, but Maria Conchita-Alonso. Born in Cuba and raised in Venezuela, Conchita-Alonso is most widely known for her role as Robin Williams' girlfriend in the film Moscow on the Hudson. Considering her background and upbringing, I give the "absolute moral authority" to the beautiful actress over perpetually adolescent Penn on this issue. The overrated actor, who shot to fame in the role of loser Jeff Spicoli (perhaps his most true-to-life depiction), continues to demonstrate his ignorance when it comes to matters of freedom, terror and world events. According to an AP report:

Hollywood star Sean Penn applauded President Hugo Chavez as the Venezuelan leader lambasted the Bush administration and demanded an end to war in Iraq.

Rescue Dawn

August 4th 2007 15:50
This afternoon, I am planning to do something I very rarely do, given Hollywood's hard left turn over the last several years: Go to a movie. Particularly after the 2004 Presidential Election, the overpaid, undereducated and self-absorbed Tinseltown crowd completely destroyed any inclination I might have had to spend my hard-earned money on their garbage.

But occasionally, Hollywood surprises me by producing a pro-American, pro-democracy film that celebrates the human virtues of courage, patriotism and brotherhood. It appears Rescue Dawn is one of them. Will post a review later.

Freedom Fighters Take A Stand

August 4th 2007 15:25
Despite CAIR's attempts to muzzle scholar Robert Spencer and to intimidate Young America's Foundation (the subject of a recent post), the presentation went on as scheduled, with Spencer not surprisingly receiving several standing ovations from an appreciative crowd.

In the wake of this latest assault on free speech, it appears that CAIR might finally have gone too far. The unindicted co-conspirators will now have to do battle with real champions of the First Amendment, should they decide to pull another power play. Well, something good does come out of every outrage: Announcing the formation of the Legal Project, "to protect researchers and analysts who work on the topics of terrorism, terrorist funding and radical Islam

In response to what is shaping up to be a great week for freedom, based upon this op-ed written by Michael O'Hanlon of the left-leaning Brookings Institution , Democrats all across America are demonstrating their patriotism by finally admitting that good news in Iraq (i.e. good news for America and by association, the Bush Administration) is terrible news for them. Don't believe me, click here for Democratic Congressman James E. Clyburn's insights. Better yet, click here to read all about Democratic Congresswoman Nancy Boyda's petulant reaction to positive news reported by Army General Jack Keane to the Armed Services Committee. Apparently, listening to a briefing announcing hopeful developments in Iraq was simply too much for the Kansas Democrat. As any mature adult would do, she dramatically left the room in a huff.

Several months back Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid shamelessly vowed that even if General Petraeus - a man unanimously approved by Congress to lead the surge - reported back to Washington with good news, he would refuse to believe him. This is, sadly, what passes for leadership in the Beltway these days

The conservative Young America's Foundation received a threatening letter today from CAIR, Council on American Islamic Relations, demanding the removal of a scheduled speaker from its annual student conference this week in Washington D.C. Robert Spencer, conscientous author and founder of Jihad Watch is set to address conference attendees tomorrow. Naturally, fearless defenders of free speech, including the American Civil Liberties Union immediately condemned CAIR for their assault on the First Amendment...well, no, of course not. True to form, the bastions of "tolerance" on the Left remained deafeningly silent and woefully indifferent to Mr. Spencer's right to free speech and Young America's Foundation's right to host him.

When you get right down to it, those who dare to criticize jihad and its supporting cast of dhimmis can forget about garnering any sympathy from liberal hypocrites. Far from being a foaming-at-the-mouth Muslim hater, Robert Spencer is a distinguished scholar whose works include The Truth About Mohammad and The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam. The Mission Statement on his website reads in part

As usual, the UN is impotent. South Korea is justifiably outraged over this. Where's the rest of the world?

AFGHANISTAN'S Taliban set the government a new deadline of noon tomorrow (5.30pm Wednesday AEST) to meet its demands in order to save 21 South Koreans, a day after a second hostage was killed
