Thank You, Prime Minister Howard

September 4th 2007 14:54
Demonstrating that moonbattery is an international affliction, anti-President Bush protesters took to the streets in Sydney to "welcome" the leader of the free world. And they even have a token member of the United States Military on their side. I guess when the vast majority of American soldiers support the war, finding one who doesn't is an easy task:

About 200 anti-war activists gathered in central Sydney to voice their opposition to President Bush's policy in Iraq.

Thousands more protesters are expected to take part in a large rally in Australia's biggest city on Saturday when APEC leaders meet.

Among those taking to the streets will be a former U.S. marine and veteran of the Iraq war.

Matt Howard, who served two tours of duty in the Persian Gulf, has come to Sydney to deliver an anti-war message to President Bush and Australian Prime Minister John Howard.

"Four-and-a-half years later after our opening shock and awe Bush's lies are known throughout the world and yet he continues to act with impunity," said Howard. "Four-and-a-half years later the Bush regime along with his sycophant coalition have unleashed a hell upon the country of Iraq that only those that have been there can truly understand."

About the only thing Matt has in common with the Australian Prime Minister is a last name. I guess he missed this news from yesterday.

Prime Minister Howard has proven himself to be the Winston Churchill of our time with his stalwart support of the War on Terror. His willingness to do the right thing in spite of sometimes violent opposition is a trait he shares with Britain's famous Prime Minister and President Bush. Howard, though, gifted with much more eloquent communication skills than the US President and possibly devoid of any need for the admiration of his political opponents, is not afraid to speak out forcefully:

Mr Howard said that threats of violent protests, not the presence of foreign leaders and high ranking officials, were to blame for severe security restrictions now being imposed on Australia's largest city.

The Prime Minister spoke soon after he inspected security arrangements around the Opera House, which is to be the summit's main venue.

AAP reports: "The reason why we have this security clampdown in Sydney, the reason why people have been inconvenienced is because people in the past have practised and, in the current environment, are threatening violence,'' Mr Howard told reporters. "It's not the fault of the guests in our country.

"It's not the fault of the American president, or the Chinese president or the Russian president, it's not the fault of the NSW government or the federal government. It's the fault of people who threaten violence.

"That's why you have to have heavy security. It's got nothing to do with the luggage or the behaviour of the people who are coming here as our guests.''

It's the fault of the people who threaten violence.

Oh, the irony! If only the Sydney protesters, like their American and European counterparts, would just grow up and get a life (and maybe a job), instead of imitating (on a much smaller scale of course) the actions of the radical Islamists. You know, the folks who not only continuously "threaten violence" against the free world, but often make good on their promises. Hence, the need for American and Allied soldiers to fight them in Iraq, Afghanistan and every other front. Years before the US-led invasion of Iraq, the entire world was in agreement, based on the Intelligence, that Saddam Hussein possessed weapons of mass destruction. Democrats including Dianne Feinstein and John Kerry said so back in 1998, but chose to play ball with the useless UN in a never-ending game of weapons inspections and ad nauseam resolutions that only emboldened and entertained Iraq's brutal dictator. Oh, and let's not forget countries like France and Russia, who were happily on the receiving end of Saddam's largesse with the Oil for Food Program.

And then September 11 happened, and the entire world changed. Brave leaders like Bush, Blair and Howard realized that the west was now engaged in a battle for its very existence. And many citizens woke up from their slumber and understood that freedom isn't free, but worth fighting (and sometimes dying) for. Alas, too many others went back to sleep, or blamed American foreign policy and western "imperialism" for the carnage, instead of radical Islam.

But I suspect, as with American "peace" activists, the Sydney clamor is more about imposing a new world order of socialism and/or communism than anything else. More useful idiots for the enemy.

Thanks to intrepid leaders like PM Howard and President Bush, western civilization is still on offense. May the trend continue as long as there are jihadists willing to kill themselves and others in the name of Allah.
